Chemotherapy
In the process of chemotherapy the drugs and medicines are administered to the patients intravenously to destroy the cancerous cells. The older drugs used for the treatment of the other types of cancer have not proven effective in the case of mesothelioma. However the newer drugs like alimta and cisplatin have been quite successful in destroying the cancerous growths inside the afflicted region. In the process of chemotherapy the patient usually suffers from several side effects that are due to the killing of the nearby healthy cells by the administered drugs.
A new method of chemotherapy known as the heated chemotherapy is also becoming hugely popular in treating the cancer of mesothelioma.
