Among all the deadliest and rarest forms of cancer, the name of Mesothelioma comes on the top position. But, in the last few years the number of deaths caused by this disease has increased drastically. There are around 20,000 people died in some previous years. But, out of one million people, a few get affected by it. Though, it affects both the genders, it has been noticed that men are getting more affected by this disease, rather than women. On the other hand, among the white Americans the symptoms of this disease are more noticed rather than the black Americans.

All the internal organs of human body are covered and protected by a thin membrane, named Mesothelium. It is composed of two layers and a lubricated fluid is released between these layers, which causes moving of the organs, like beating of heart. Mesothelioma causes abnormalities of the Mesothelium. The cancerous cells spread from its original place to the other parts of the body and can even damage other organs.

This form of cancer is categorized into three types, Pleural, Peritoneal, and pericardia. It has been noticed that, in most of the cases, Mesothelioma starts in the Pleural or the peritoneal region.

Exposure of asbestos has been known as the single reason of the disease. This natural mineral has been commercially used and mined from the 1800s and the usage has greatly increased since the World War II. From that time, millions of Americans have worked with this mineral and exposed to the dust of it. It has also been evident that the families of those workers can also get infected by this deadly disease sometimes.

Mesothelioma care can only be taken, if it is traced in the early stages. Oncologists perform three types of treatments for Mesothelioma - radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. These results in betterment of lives of the patients and success rate of the combination of radiation and chemotherapy is approximately 74.6% in the USA.
