Mesothelioma is one of the rarest types of cancer, whose cancerous cells are found in the Mesothelium. Mesothelium is basically a thin lining which covers as well as protects the internal organs of the human body. This membrane is composed of two layers of cells, among which one surrounds an organ and other forms a sac around it. Mesothelium releases a lubricating fluid between these two layers, which causes moving of the organs, like heart beating. Mesothelioma affects the cells of Mesothelium for which it becomes abnormal and divides without proper order or control.

The symptoms of this disease are not unique at all; they are shown in other diseases as well. The affected persons of Mesothelioma suffer with terrible pain in specific areas of chest, breathing problem or shortness of breath which occurs due to building up of fluid in the chest, loss of weight, clotting of blood, low blood pressure, fever, Anemia and so on.

Three types of Mesothelioma have been discovered so far, named, Peritoneal, Pleural, and Pericardial. Among which, Pleural is the most common type of Mesothelioma.

One of the main causes of Mesothelioma that has been known after a long research is the exposure to asbestos. It is a natural mineral whose usage had started extensively after the World War II. Certain rules and regulations have been implemented which instruct not to over expose to asbestos for the workers and prohibit usage of this mineral to the employers. In case of law infringement, necessary legal actions can be taken.

Proper Mesothelioma care can be taken if it is traced in the early stage. But, unfortunately this is such a disease which can not be traced in the early stages. The diagnosis procedure of it is quite difficult. Primarily oncologists usually perform X-ray of chest. MRI and CT scan are also recommended by the doctors.
